On Sunday evening, June 28, 2026, signs marking the boundary of the off-leash area at the Marina Community Park were removed by vandals. Temporary signs have been posted to ensure that park visitors know where the off-leash area is located. Please respect the rules and keep your dog leashed when moving into and out of the off-leash area. Owners who do not follow this rule may be fined.
By posting boundary signs, SVCA is in compliance with recommendations made by legal counsel and best practices for the management of dog parks. Additionally, both WA State and Whatcom County codes cite the need for signs that clearly designate off-leash areas. If the temporary signs are removed, SVCA will be forced to evaluate whether it is necessary to close the dog park until more permanent signs can be installed.
